The Riverlea Team

Our Team

At Riverlea Farming we’re proud of the people who make our business run. We have a dedicated full-time team of four, and each summer we welcome another four seasonal staff to join us for harvest and baling.

We’ve had team members from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the UK and the Netherlands. Many were ag students gaining practical experience to support their studies, while others were skilled machinery operators building their careers.

Over the years, we’ve made lasting friendships and built connections across the globe. We value teamwork, safety and positivity — and we always look to build on the strengths and interests of our people while helping them expand their skills.

Work for Us

When You’ll Be Here

  • Harvest season: January–March

  • Settling in: We encourage seasonal staff to arrive in December for training and familiarisation

  • Extra work: Opportunities to stay on for tillage and seeding in April–May

What You’ll Do

Our seasonal crew play a hands-on role across many areas of the farm, including:

  • Operating tractors, balers, combines, windrowers, telehandlers and trucks

  • Helping with livestock work during shearing, feeding and weighing

  • Assisting with irrigation and general farm maintenance

We’ll match tasks to your skills and interests, while encouraging you to grow your abilities.

Living on Farm

We provide comfortable staff accommodation on our home farm at Epping Forest:

  • A recently renovated, open-plan three-bedroom house

  • A tidy one-bedroom unit suitable for a single person or couple

Vehicles are also available for personal use (shared between staff). These include a Toyota Camry sedan and various utes.

Food & Daily Life

  • Work generally starts 7:30–8:00 am, depending on conditions and workload

  • Staff provide their own breakfast and packed lunch

  • If work continues past tea time, the farm supplies an evening meal

  • Each accommodation has a washing machine (laundry is your own responsibility!)

Local towns like Longford, Campbelltown and Perth are just 20 minutes away, while Launceston — a city of 90,000 with shopping, nightlife and everything else you might need — is only a 30-minute drive north.

Licences

  • A full car licence is essential

  • Foreign licences can usually be transferred to a Tasmanian licence via Service Tasmania

  • Heavy traffic licences transfer directly from Australia or NZ

  • Other international applicants may need to sit a driving test before operating heavy combination vehicles on Tasmanian roads

Life Outside Work

Riverlea’s central north location makes it easy to explore Tasmania in your downtime. Hiking, sport, beaches, fishing, hunting and diving are all within easy reach. Whether you’re into AFL, netball, soccer, rugby, tennis or just enjoying the great outdoors, you’ll find plenty to do. Learn more at Discover Tasmania.
